Speaking and the Importance of Gathering Contact Information and Selling Products

Recently I spoke at the national conference of the Association of Massage Therapists and HolisticProfessional Speaker Garland Coulson, The E-Business Tutor Practitioners in Calgary, doing a presentation entitled, "Work Less, Make More."

The people in the room raved about the session - but will they remember me 6 months from now?

The answer is an emphatic YES!

How do I know this?  Because 100% of them signed up for my newsletter when I passed around a sign up sheet during the workshop! :)  And 70% of them purchased my e-book, "Internet Marketing For Beginners."

By simply asking them if they would like to receive my electronic newsletter, I now have contact information for all the workshop attendees so that I can keep in touch with them on a monthly basis through my newsletter can follow up with them for my coaching, e-books, and other products and services.  In addition, I made more money on the spot by offering product.

When I spoke to the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers in Edmonton, I also had the opportunity to hear other speakers present after me.  Some of them were very good, but I was the only one who encouraged people to sign up for anything else.  This was astonishing to me that paid professional speakers are not capturing and contact information from people coming to their sessions.  In this case 2/3 of the audience signed up to receive my newsletter and I ended up with 4 coaching clients from the session.

If you are a speaker, having a system in place to gather contact information and having product available at your sessions will pay off!
